James
James Parkin is something of a prodigy on Dexter9 - a planet permanently and almost wholly wreathed in thick carbon clouds that permit little sunlight to make its way through. So dark is the world that life there developed senses and sensitivities to overcome the darkness. As a result there is little no call for artificial lighting, let alone experts in artistically and naturally lighting sets and features.

James initially developed his skill as something of a niche artistic hobby - creating paintings and sculptures that utilised light emitting sources to subtly alter shades and textures - something unique and controversial to the art world on Dexter9.

James Parkin: Head of Lighting and Consultant [Dexter9 Interests]

James went off-world to pursue his art and science further, having his eyesight surgically altered to process the much brighter living conditions. Suddenly finding himself in a very competitive environment, James strived all the harder where most would have given in. But, understandably, he turned out pretty crap - he comes from a lightless planet for god sake, what did you expect? But that made him cheap enough to employ for this project.

James' involvement on the project, besides being Head of Lighting, was to consult on the Dexter9 Edition Kama Sutra - a rather dark affair that uses his trademark (on Dexter9) subtle lighting techniques to enhance the imagery. James also consulted on the sonar edition for Dexter9, sales of which have far surpassed his bullshit arty-farty effort.

In between lighting projects James has been known to work as a freelance model himself - this rather more successful career has seen him on the cover of Time, SFX, Total Film, Empire, Flicks, Vogue, Model Makers Monthly and FHM. James' career reached its peak in the late 70s and early 80s - work that saw his first acting roles in films (starting with "A New Hope" in 1977), television, cartoons, computer games. James posed for sculptors and photographers to bring his visage into the homes of millions in the form of toys, merchandising, and a slew of related magazine and newspaper articles. In the late 90s and throughout the first decade of 2000 this early work has had something of a revival, and James is enjoying being in the limelight once again.

In his leisure time James enjoys watching "The X-Files", and wouldn't mind a bit-part in it one day. Although everyone got to choose the backdrop used in their cast/crew biography photos, James set up, lit, and photographed all the images in the cast/crew section - hence why his photos are the best.
