Londoners priced out of Lunchtime
As more people are forced to commute into London due to escalating house prices, some are still finding themselves hit by the higher cost of day-to-day living in the city. An anonymous Kentish man working in the affluent and highly priced Royal Borough of Kensington has begun an online plea for donations to his lunch kitty.
At www.buymylunch.com he complains that "I can afford to buy lunch in one of two local places, and after nearly 500 meals I'm sick of them". Donations are encouraged by a promise that all meals will get a full 'restaurant review' and donators names and photos displayed in thanks.
Despite the hunger and poverty prevelant throughout London's homeless, the site owner defends his request for handouts by reminding visitors that "I'm not twisting your arm. But if you want your face on this site or you want to read critical reviews of Notting Hill and Holland Park eateries and anecdotes of the reactions I get to taking snaps of my food in cafes, then slip us some cash. If not, then don't." which is fair enough really.
