| Are you unimpressed with religions? Do you dislike being told what you should believe under threat of damnation? Do you belong to a religion but disbelieve elements of it? Do you find it laughable that no matter which religion you belong to, many of the rest will see you as damned or lost? |
If the answer to any of these is 'yes', but you still want to pursue the spiritual, then the Church of the Grey could be for you. |
| What does the Church of the Grey stand for? The Church of the Grey is a disorganised religion. We have no temples, no shrines, no preachers and no books of divinity. What we have is an inclusive religion dictated by the perceptions of the individual. You decide what you believe - everything is entirely up to the individual.
Each individual writes their own book, one which they constantly re-evaluate and edit their entire lives - a record and expression of their current beliefs and outlook. Inspiration for the content of their 'book of the grey' can come from anywhere, although we encourage members to study other beliefs, cultures and writings of any form and to incorporate - plagiarize - the elements relevant to them in their Book of the Grey. [more info] If you belong to a religion you can keep it as the basis of your faith but then modify it - adding, removing and altering elements as you please.
When the Church of the Grey was founded, this was seen to be enough. There is, however, more. What you are about to read most religions would call doctrine and make it the core of their religion, and that of their followers. We call it backstory and do no such thing. It bears no relevance on an individual members belief unless they particularly subscribe to it, but it does represent the founders basic viewpoints and motivations. |
